Modball Rally - Jon Bourgerie is a manipulative, psychologically abusive liar who endangers the lives of participants and bystanders by his selfish irresponsibility

...And he does not stick to agreements... After this page had been up for some time he contacted me to propose an agreement whereby if I took it down he would cancel Lucy Pinder's involvement with the Modball Rally. I thought I'd give him a chance to show that this spark of decency was real, so I did take it down... And he then reneged on his side of the bargain, continued to involve her and has recently published a webpage concerning her continued involvement... his proposal turned out to be nothing but a manipulative lie. So the page has gone back up. I feel like a complete idiot for, after posting about how he is an untrustworthy manipulative scumbag, then trusting him myself and allowing him to manipulate me as well... but I do like to give people the chance to show their good side. Guess I'm too nice for my own good...


This is a warning to anyone considering entering in the Modball Rally - especially women: Do not have anything to do with the fuckers.

Why not? Well, the event itself is grossly irresponsible - it incites people to drive tired, drunk and uninsured, it has caused accidents by doing this, and it has even put people at risk of getting shot - all with the full knowledge of Jon Bourgerie, the organiser, and with him being completely indifferent to people's lives being put in danger. Also, Bourgerie is the sort of vile controlling manipulative evil shit who uses psychological abuse to manipulate other people into conforming with his own desires and prevent them from acknowledging what he has done to them.

The whole nature of the event is physically dangerous both to participants and to other road users. Its slogan is "Drive all day - party all night"... And people do. They party all night, and then spend the next day driving with their blood alcohol level still well above the legal limit and suffering from overtiredness to boot. To organise an event which so encourages people to drive both drunk and tired is lethally irresponsible, and shows very clearly that Jon Bourgerie does not give a shit about anyone other than himself.

The 2007 Modball Rally was called off after being stopped by the German police for illegal road racing following reports of irresponsible behaviour by participants from members of the public - Drivers reported several cars -- each with similar stickers and numbers -- bombing down the highway with little regard for life and limb, some recklessly passing on the right. One driver even reported seeing a ModBall participant hanging out of a car window filming his fellow racers - Not that it changed their behaviour or improved their standards of driving, they just avoided Germany on subsequent events.

And this post by another participant (registration required to view) is completely horrifying - Crashing due to driving while unfit through overtiredness, incitement to drunken driving, incitement to driving uninsured... and risk of getting your head blown off by gun-toting Romanian gangsters - Note also the constant refrain of "the management was informed and did nothing". No matter what risk to life and limb his activities cause to either participants or the public, Bourgerie does not care.

Award given to a guy who was placed in a position - on the first 'drive' where he fell to sleep at the wheel of a limousine (we were expected to drive for so long), with a passenger in the back and took out nearly 250yds of signs and nearly rolled it on his way down the road. I was exceptionally tired too.

Teams were expected to drive through 2 different countries without insurance. Having done modball the previous year we checked the route the second year and 2 out of the 10 people in our 'group' were able to get insured in two eastern block countries on the route.
We informed 'Modball' via the Managing Director, his name is Jon and formally emailed the organisation to the above effect.
No action was taken.

We were also aware that these eastern block countries had a very bad recovery situation. If a car broke down, a 'recovery agent' was dispatched to assess the value of the vehicle and if the car was beyond economic repair (in the eyes of the recovery agent) it would be left at the roadside.
One couple - a lady and gentleman were actually forced to pay in excess of £700 recovery bills simply to get the car and obv, their possessions to a garage. That's before repairs were made.
Modball were made away of this but did nothing.

In Budapest, most were exhausted at 8pm ish and had started a few beers. The Organiser Jon invited us all to race across the city and find various clues for an opportunity to be video'd driving around the top gear test track as a prize. Once most people realized it was somewhat 'predictable' who the winners were, they decided to go to strip clubs across town.
These strip clubs were a complete setup. We were ushered in for the usual, a dance etc and the bills escalated to rediculous proportions - 3 guys in our group had a dance, 1 round of drinks and a bill of nearly £400! We managed to call the police and get out.
Other groups of modballers - 3 groups of people, were brought back to the hotel at various points during the night, in dark cars, with guns to their heads (we later discovered) to retrieve cash from team mates to pay bills.
The whole thing was a complete setup. The owner, meanwhile, laughed it all off and seemed to care little. One team driver lost £850 in one evening (or near enough).

None of these dangers were illustrated. They weren't even gently hinted at. Nor was an apology given or compassion felt towards those in trouble by the organiser nor his staff.

As you can probably tell, there's much, much more to this hence offering information via pm.

The route was planned via google maps, it was never pre-driven to check it's plausability.

And not despite spending in excess of £1200 on modball entry over two years for myself and adrianmay my co-pilot, i've not even been contacted by the owner to return - not even out of courtesy.

I think those comments from participants make it very clear what sort of an event this is and how little Jon Bourgerie cares for his responsibilities towards the safety and welfare of those taking part. (If any of the links fail, I have copies of the pages concerned.)

And it is therefore all the more worrying that Bourgerie has not only decided to involve top glamour model Lucy Pinder in this appallingly irresponsible event (imagine what might happen to a beautiful woman like Lucy if she should fall into the hands of gun-toting strip-club-owning kidnappers... or maybe it's better not to imagine it...) he has psychologically manipulated her to make sure she remains compliant to his wishes.

I have personally witnessed Lucy Pinder acting as if she was afraid of what he would do to her if she so much as spoke to someone without his permission. When he or his associates were not around she was acting normally, but when he was around she was acting exactly like a certain victim of psychological and domestic abuse who I spent many years helping, who was at risk of being ill-treated or even subjected to violence if she spoke to anyone whom the abuser had not "approved".

I'm not suggesting that Bourgerie has subjected Lucy Pinder to physical violence. But he has certainly done something to make her afraid to speak without his permission, I've seen the results. And that kind of behaviour, to my way of thinking, is no whit less abusive - if not more so - it is just as psychologically damaging, harder for the victim to escape, and much easier for the perpetrator to get away with, as not only does it leave no visible marks but the victim is likely to deny that it is happening.

From the Wikipedia page on Stockholm syndrome: "Stockholm syndrome can be seen as a form of traumatic bonding, which does not necessarily require a hostage scenario, but which describes "strong emotional ties that develop between two persons where one person intermittently harasses, beats, threatens, abuses, or intimidates the other.... The syndrome has also been explained in evolutionary terms by a phenomenon sometimes referred to as "Capture-bonding".... Partial activation of the capture-bonding psychological trait may lie behind battered-wife syndrome, military basic training, fraternity hazing, and sex practices such as sadism/masochism or bondage/discipline."

The reference to "battered wife syndrome" - simplistically, the phenomenon behind a woman defending to the hilt someone who repeatedly abuses her, insisting she is "happy" even while covered in bruises, refusing to acknowledge the abuse - is particularly apposite. It does not require physical abuse to induce this phenomenon - mental abuse is quite enough. Sadly I am all too familiar with the symptoms from my experience helping the person referred to above. And I have observed the same symptoms in Lucy Pinder caused by Jon Bourgerie's mental abuse. Also, I have met Bourgerie (he has claimed I haven't; this is a lie) and he is a dead ringer for the abuser of the person referred to above.

Lucy Pinder's failure to sever her connection with the Modball Rally is a phenomenon of the same nature as a battered woman failing to sever her connection with the abuser - both cases are a result of the victim being psychologically manipulated into an inability to acknowledge what is happening to them.

It is also worth noting that the Modball Rally takes place mainly outside the UK. So Lucy Pinder is forced to spend a considerable length of time physically confined in cars and hotels with the abusive Bourgerie; she has no choice but to be totally subservient to the evil creature, as she is stuck in a foreign land far from home and lacks the means to escape.

For someone as sweet-natured as Lucy Pinder to come under the control of this evil scum and be subjected to his psychological abuse and manipulation for long periods without the chance to escape is completely unacceptable, and her involvement with the Modball Rally must be terminated forthwith.

For anyone to organise an event which not only fails to warn people of possible problems as serious as being kidnapped by gun-toting gangsters, but also incites participants to drive while unfit through drink and tiredness and while uninsured, is so outrageous that it beggars belief that the event is allowed to continue.

Do not participate in the Modball Rally if you want to retain control of your own head - or indeed, if you value your life. Do not go within a hundred yards of the evil controlling scumbag Jon Bourgerie who runs it. Do not have anything to do with any of it.
